Zenki FC3S: An Idiot's Guide to RX-7s

June 2004, I became the proud owner of a black 1987 RX-7 TurboII. The body had maybe 160,000 miles on it, and it had a rebuilt engine. Since then, I've worked on it every chance I get.

This site has detailed guides for all the stuff I've done to my car. Most of my mods are pretty easy, but the pictures and all help cut down the intimidation factor for people who're new to RX-7s (like I was). Hence, the "idiot's" guide. By idiots, for idiots.

FC3S is the designation given the 2nd generation RX-7 coupes (1986-1991). Convertibles were called FC3C . The 1st generation RX-7 was given the name FB (81-85) while the 3rd generation was given the name FD (1993-1995).

Zenki refers to the Series 4 (S4) FC3S (1986-1988) while Kouki refers to the Series 5 (S5) FC3S (1989-1991).

What's New?

3/5/05 - UIM removal now has new 90 degree coolant hose solution.

2/11/05 - Put up pictures from the Mothers of Performance meet.

1/21/04 - Put up pictures for the racing beat cat-back exhaust. Dunno why it took so long. It was done over the summer.

12/2/04 - Birth of this site. I add the guide to removing the upper intake manifold.
